Ceeza Milli Diamond in the rough Album Review: Deserves some love

Ceeza Milli Diamond in the rough Album Review

Kizz Daniel once made an album and called it “no bad songs”. That is true for that album and this album. Because one could hardly pinpoint a song that is a bad song. Ifeanyi Charles Bosah who is populary know as Ceeza Milli released his new album titled “Diamond in the rough” and it is a good afropop album. The lyrics are although majorly about one topic, but it is delis dynamic. Also his high RnB influence makes the songs interesting to listen to. Ceeza Milli can be said to be under appreciated by the music fan base in Nigeria. He is a decent artist who could really flourish outside Nigeria if Aristocrat records and music listeners/lovers in Nigeria show him the kind of support enjoyed by afropop heavy weights like 2baba, Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy. This album is dynamic in sound and can get people vibing to it with a slow dance or a simple nod.

THE THEME

This album is themed around love with two songs talking about fan’s love and social injustice in Nigeria. In a song that has a high Afrobeats infulence, Milli made a song for a fictional lady called Yetunde in a song he titles “FaYa”. In this song, he appluads her effects on him using similie and metaphoric statements. “Ogini” is a song that talks about the rocking body of a lady called Carolina. Using his lyrics to ask the lady if she wants to kill people with her body. He begs her to never leave, declaring that he will follow her if she agrees to be with him.

Working with Starboy entertainment artist, Terri, they made song titled “Stranger”. They use the song to ask for a little attention from a certain lady. According to the lyrics of the chorus, Terri declares that it will not be bad if this certain lady looks his way. “Jonze” is a song Milli uses to sing about a certain Senegalese lady. He sings about the lady controlling the attention of everyone in the room he was. Milli eventually makes his way to her and ask her out. Working with the Starboy Entertainment boss himself, Wizkid they create a song titled “shayo”. This is a song that talks about showing off ones lover to the world irrespective of what haters say.

In a song which is argueably one of the best Afropop love songs of 2020, Milli made a song which he uses to ask a lady out. He tells the lady that she has been recommended by his mum and he is ready to take home to see his dad. According to him, he claims he is ready to go 1998 with her. Featuring former Mavin Records artist, Tiwa Savage they created a love song titled “Imade”. This is one of the song that relatively weak in Lyrics.

Finally, “Gobe” is a song that is just a real jam because of the quality in vocals. He sings about his motivation to hustle. Setting the poverty of the masses as a motivation, he declares that they can not stop him from hustling and making it.

POSSIBLE HITS OR FLOPS

All the songs in this album have good potentials. It all depends on the level of promotion and hardwork putting by Ceeza Milli. It was a wrong idea releasing this album in this lockdown. That move was a total wrong move. However “Ogini”, “Stranger” and “Shayo” are worth listening to.
