LAX Zaza Vibes Album Review: It’s a Real Dance Vibe project

LAX Zaza Vibes Album Review

When you talk about African music especially Nigerian music, what one looks out for is how much of a dance can it make one dance. Afropop is about fusing lyrics- no matter the topic sentence to danceable beats. Zaza vibes album is a playlist that proves that. There are songs on this playlist that can make one dance. It may be in a slow dance or a very energetic dance.

LAX is an artist who would have thrived if he was in to RnB genre because of the way he crafts his lyrics. He is not the original Afropop song maker especially when you listen to the way he uses his words. This project can comfortably compete with other 12track albums that was released in Nigeria. And I mean Adekunle Gold and Ceeza Milli albums

There are so many songs that cannot be overlooked. In the Nigerian phrase, we can tag most of the songs on this album as “gbedu”. LAX is coming of age and even he may not become a house hold name like Burna, Davido and Wizkid; he will sure make his sound heard. Zaza Vibes album is a real dance vibe project.

POSSIBLE HITS AND FLOPS

When we are picking songs that are hit songs on an EP or LP, what we look out for are not the already released singles. What we look out for are the new songs in the album. Songs like “Pere”, “Perfect”, “Jara” and “commando” could easily become street hit jams especially in Nigeria. There are no flops on this album because one cannot skip the songs on the album because of the sound and the slightly varying lyrical content.

THE PRODUCTION

A song that will push one to dance is always know from the intro. Most of the songs on this album were produced with that in mind. One of the songs with a catchy intro is “Pere”. Working with Blazebeats and Ubba on that track was just perfect because at the sound of the intro, the body is unconsciously calibrated to dance. LAX employed the best hands for the project and that can be heard in not just the sound but the vocals of the featured artist.

THE THEME

The lyrical theme of the album revolves around love. LAX made an album that is made up of love songs from start to finish. In some songs he sings from the perspective of a guy lusting after a lady’s body while in some other songs he sings from the perspective of a man ready to be a serious lover.

In probably the biggest party jam on the album, LAX tells his lover to allow him play her like the keys of music. In this song that he titles “Pere”, he tells her that he just wants to know if she accepts him as her one and true love. He tells her to dance and allow him make love to her if she truly accepts him as her lover. Employing the skills of DMW artiste Perruzi and Timi Boi, they made a song titled “Commando”. The song is an invitation to a lady to stay with him. According to him, the way she carries and coordinates herself commands him like a military commando. He asks her why she is always pulling the stunt of leaving him which is not cool at all. According to him, she plays him with this indirect control trick.

Working with Mr Eazi they created a song titled “Perfect”. The song is all about accepting one’s lover the way he or she is because no one is perfect. LAX uses the song to tell a lover of his to just accept him the way he is because he is not a perfect man. Working with the Tekno on a song titled “Jara” they sing about enjoying life with one’s lover. He promises to give his lover more than she expects to get from him. In one of the already released singles titled “Sade” he sings an erotic song for his lover. He uses the lyrics to invite a certain lady named Sade to allow him make love to her. He claimed to be loosing his mind because of perfectly shaped body.

In summary the album is a playlist of dancehall vibes which could geyt anyone move his or her legs. Zaza vibes is a gbedu and should be given a nod by DJs in and around Nigeria because people will feel the vibe in each song.
