Wande Coal Realms EP Review

The African musical black diamond released an EP over the weekend and after listening to the high RnB influenced Afropop project; one cannot help but wonder how Wande Coal lost his place. Some months back Wizkids tweeted a single from Wande and stated that “we rise by lifting others”. The problem a follower of Wande Coal’s music from his Bumper to Bumper days will be having is wondering why Wizkid has to be rising a once shining black Diamond like Wande.

The way Wande fell in terms of popularity after his defection from Mavin Records is somewhat painful. Wande Coal was one of those artist that had a very raw talent that could not be questioned and he proved it again in this EP. One can easily blame it on his investment in promotion firms or the lack of PR firms in giving him good service. However his fall from the popular circle and not enjoying same popularity like he did in the mid-2000s is really disappointing.

His lyrics are captivating, his delivery is dope and the way he glides with the beat is just something that normally everybody is supposed to get crazy about. The seven track extended play project has some of the best songs when one is rating EP. This EP could comfortably compete with Omah Lay’s Get Layd EP. His originality to his fuji music influenced Afropop is dope as can be heard in the Pheelz produced “Naughty girl”. Furthermore his RnB influence in “Again” is also applaud-able.

The album a love themed album delivered with lots of RnB influence with a blend of African flavor. In a song which titles “Naughty Girl”, he sings about a lady who met and thought was a naïve girl. In his words he claimed that the first time he met her, he thought she was a sweet angel. But found out that she was a bad girl who would not mind being his lady for the money. The groovy beat which was created by Pheelz with Fuji music beat with choir keyboard keys could get any dance floor lightened up.

“Ode lo Like” is a song that he uses to tackle the issue of ladies loving only men with money. According to him, ladies do not like people that are good for nothing. He admonishes men to go and work hard to have ladies that will call them honey. “Again” on the other hand is a song that he uses to tell a lady he loves that he wants her. According to him, many girls have passed by and through him but she has changed something about him. According to him, his life will never be the same again because of her influence.

“Check” is a song that he uses to sing about his ex-lover always checking on him. He tells his ex-lover not check on him because he has his check on him. According to him his new lover is always looking after him and always making sure that he does not spend or drink too much. He finishes off the song by promising his new lover that if she stays with him; that they will shine like the light.

In another song titled “Ever Blazin”, he sings about the love he gets from his new found lover. According to him the love that he gives him is ever blazing. Explaining how he felt and still feels about her, he claims that he had to change his ways when they started to date. He finishes off by promising her to stay with her to the end of time. In summary the EP is a really good EP. The songs are mature and can be put on replay anytime any day.
